Anyone that reads this blog regularly will know that I love to just keep on learning, just like in any other industry continuous professional development is critical, one of the main differences though is that being a self-employed wedding photographer I go on training courses off my own back, not forced to go on something pointless by an employer
Courses and seminars help to keep my skills up to date in a non-pressure environment, more than anything getting out of the office and away from the computer, networking and being inspired.
I booked on the Fine Art Weddings course at Aspire Photography training with Stuart Cooper, it is always good to see someone else’s approach to wedding photography and as a fellow trainer at Aspire it is really helpful to see how others train and coach delegates, I was also pleased to learn that Stuart will be attending my next course!
Stuart covered off his approach to weddings and showed a slideshow of his Fine Art wedding images, we then went on to go out on location with Aimee and Pete, who were our models for the day, they are not married, nor are they professional models (although you couldn’t tell because they were fabulous!) so a great representation of real Brides and Grooms.
Working as a full time photographer I didn’t really need any new portfolio images* and had planned on just observing how Stuart approached his couples, that lasted about five minutes and I was really glad that my Rachy had persuaded me to take my kit.
A really great day out and I now look forward to seeing inspirational Mexican wedding photographer Fer Juaristi at Aspire in December. Hopefully see how someone at the top his game on another continent keeps his work fresh and ahead of the competition.
My old school teacher would never have believed that Ian Wood could have loved learning so much, hey they layed out the foundations though and for that I thank them
